Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED Training Course
More than 2 million children age four and younger are treated in hospital emergency departments each year for unintentional, nonfatal injuries. Proper training in pediatric first aid, customized to meet the special needs of infants and children, is one of the most important steps in saving young lives.
Participants will receive hands-on training and gain the confidence necessary to respond in a variety of emergencies in pediatric patients.
Our training programs are nationally recognized, meet the latest First Aid and CPR & AED requirements for all 50 states and follow the latest CPR and ECC Guidelines.
The Emergency Response Consulting Group delivers this interactive training course through a combination of lecture, video, group discussion, and hands-on training . This blended method of learning has proven to increase retention of the techniques.
This course is designed for childcare providers, early childhood educators/students, youth organizations, parents, and anyone else who may need to provide emergency care to infants and children.
State rules and regulations require that employees with first aid and CPR certification always be present at group daycares and on field trips.
The course length for the Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED course is 6 hours. This course can be delivered as one 6 hour training session or two 3 hour training sessions. Focusing on injury prevention, our pediatric program covers information on many childhood topics. From common childhood illnesses to child abuse and neglect, this program meets the latest CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Guidelines while addressing the special needs of infants and children.
The course includes training on many childhood topics, to include: • Taking action in an emergency • CPR – infant (younger than 1) • CPR – child (ages 1-8) • AED – child (ages 1-8 or less than 55 pounds) • Breathing emergencies • Choking • Preventing injuries • Bleeding • Heat and cold emergencies • Allergic reactions • Bone, muscle and joint injuries • Preventing disease transmission • Burns • Accidental poisoning • Recovery position
