OSHA Portable Fire Extinguisher Training
OSHA Portable Fire Extinguishers Standard - 29 CFR 1910.157
The fire extinguisher training consists of two distinct elements, theory and practice. The theory portion covers the steps to be taken in the event of a fire emergency, the decision attempting extinguishment, and selecting the correct fire extinguisher. The hands-on practical training involves putting the extinguisher into operation, holding the hose correctly, and instruction on sweeping the nozzle effectively against the fire. The practical instruction allows participants to use a fire extinguisher in a safe, computer-generated, fire simulation that allows hands-on training to be conducted in a clean and comfortable indoor space. The simulator is run on a 65” x 40” projection screen which allows users to interactively extinguish the fire. The fire being extinguished is directly related to the actions of the user - the better the extinguisher is used, the quicker the fire is extinguished. We supply the simulator and all associated components (computer, projection screen, projector, extinguisher, etc.). Most importantly, the simulator allows realistic hands-on practical fire extinguisher training in the safest possible manner since there is no live fire or smoke. This one-hour training program, delivered by the Emergency Response Consulting Group, is fully compliant with the updated OSHA Fire Extinguishers Standard and can be customized to fit the needs of your municipality, company, or organization. Our interactive OSHA Fire Extinguisher Training Course exceeds the minimum requirements established by OSHA, PESH, and the New York State Department of Labor. This course provides valuable information to your supervisors, managers, and other employees to increase their knowledge of the OSHA Standard and how to use a fire extinguisher safely in the workplace using protective measures.
